Not just any purple blossom,
but specifically the one that sat on my grandmothers table.
If only I could jump back in time to when I could sit and spend time with her.
She would lean in to admire my vivid colour,
and I could take in her scent one more time.
She would run her fingers over my gentle fuzzy leaves,
and I could feel her touch.
A simple flower to some is a flood of memories for me.
A flower that may be deemed "simple" by some,
was the anchor to which a prism from my grandmother's window landed.
She was never known for being anything other than perfectly understated,
yet nothing short of classy.
One day I will nest an African Violet in the heart of my home,
and ode to my Grandmother, and all things understand, yet truly beautiful.
African Violet Ring
Sterling Silver and Amethyst
African Violet ring was inspired by the very woman who inspired me on a daily basis. Created with a 5mm faceted African Amethyst stone in a rich luster purple, I have set it in a 6mm wide sterling silver ring shank I imprinted with a leaf and flower vine. Darkened with patina, then burnished to reveal bright silver, this ring is made to order in a limited quantity.
In the Etsy Catalog and on the Website now.
