Weekly Recap

It's been a bit slow in the blogging department around here, but I guess I just haven't had all that much to write about!

Here's a bit of a recap :

Last weekend had me driving up the coast to visit my parents. I always enjoy that drive and it was a gloriously sunny ( if even a bit too hot waiting to take the ferry) Friday afternoon. I had the windows down, the ipod on shuffle in my car, and my hair whipped in the wind.
It was good medicine I tell you!

We visited the Garlic Festival on the Saturday morning. I am a bit embarrassed to say I didn't take any pictures, but I was just too busy being in sensory overload.
Mom tried garlic ice cream.
Her reaction prevented me and Dad from doing so.

We took Tucker ( also known as Tuckie, Sir Tucker, Tuk Tuk, Tuckles etc) to the beach for a good cool down swim.

He didn't enjoy it at all ;-p

We listened to Neil, and Janis, Stevie and Art & Paul amongst others.
I soaked sun up into my bones and every strand of hair. It has been such a cold damp spring and summer this year, and as I read my book out in the backyard it brought me back to the summers of my youth doing the very same thing.
So much changes, yet nothing does at all it seems.

Since I have been home not much has gone on - I wasted what could have been two fabulously productive days waiting for a plumber ( our bathroom since started pouring water out into our bathroom cupboard instead of where it should go, in the sink!)
Don't you hate waiting for people?
They say they will be there in 5 minutes ( after you have waited 4 hours) only to show up in another hour and a half?
Promptness is something that is bread into me genetically by my father, who always said "if you can't be there on time, be there 5 minutes early"

So, that was my week. Commencement with sun and suds and songs, and a denouement that  took all my patience and was less that climactic.
Such is life sometimes!

I'll leave you with a couple of my all time sing along favorites,
"Me and Bobby Mcgee"
Janis Joplin

"Old Man"
Neil Young

Enjoy!

Wherever the Wind May Take Us

You and I are something else.
We are the same,
Yet we couldn't be more different.
I smile, I cry, I laugh, I hurt.
You are there.

We are on a journey together,
each step we take,
each step we don't.
Wherever the wind may take us,
we will go together,
side by side,
even if the day is still.

When we can just "be"
and not define ourselves with words like "should"
When we can lift our souls free of little burdens,
and let our toes off steady ground.
Then wherever the wind may take us
will be an adventure, all our own.

Wherever The Wind May Take Us Necklace
Sterling Silver, Aqua Nueva Agate

A piece special to my heart, signifying the strength in faith in another person, and importance of growth of one's self.
Hand cut leaves of sterling silver are layered in a growing sprig from a gorgeous soft purple, lavender and mauve hued Agua Nueva Agate. Rimmed in ruffled sterling edges, this pretty gem hangs on 17 inches of oxidized sterling silver chain, and measures approx 2 inches wide.

From my heart and soul to yours.
This piece will head into the shop this evening approx 6PM PST along with several other pretties to debuted shortly.

Monday Musings

Last night we met up with a friend who was in town from Inuvik.
He regaled us with stories of 24 hour darkness, and 24 hour daylight.
He is a Foods teacher at the high school, and told us all about the delicacies and native dishes.
It was something else.
So we sipped on fabulous locally brewed beers ( we are so lucky hear to have some fabulous breweries!)
We had Grapefruit Ale,
and Raspberry Lager.
Nutty brews,
and even a Mint Chocolate Porter.
We had, perhaps, a couple too many. Let's just say, we all work up feeling much older than we did in the days of going out to the bars 10 years ago when we met.
But it sure was fun!

We left with the early evening sun on our shoulders, and toes.

And when we strolled out of the pub at an hour I'll leave to your imagination, it was still warm enough to be in our shorts and flip flops.
Thank you Summer, you finally showed up!

Hope you all had a fabulous Monday!

PPS - Dan has recently made a new friend - the neighbors cat who has not collar, and therefor is being called "Buddy" by us.
Buddy has amazing golden green eyes.
He likes to lay on Dan while he naps outside in the sun.
Dan is less fond of this, but puts up with it :-p

Take a load off

I think you should relax this weekend.
Smile a little more than usual.
Take a little time just for you,
whether it is to read a book,
scribble in a journal,
or even just veg out in front of the TV.
Just let time stop for a little while.
And just when your cheeks hurt from smiling,
smile a little more :-)

Because I said so!
Happy Weekend all - thank goodness it is Friday!
