Shop Update Part Deux - le sigh

So, if you are a follower of my facebook page you might have seen that I had a little broken stone disaster. Le sigh, it was going to be such a great ring too!
Apparently it just wasn't written in the stars for me to set stones today, because nothing is going where I want it to go. So, I am walking away from the bench before I do some real harm lol.

Having said that, I do have some fabulous pieces on the way for next week, and the first shop update of August ( gah, can you believe its August already!?!) I will try and maybe get some process pics out this week :-)

In other news, this announcement that I spoke of earlier in this post will finally be revealed!
I have decided, after much thought, and many back and forth decisions to split my shop in two.
My original shop BellaBijouJewellery will stay with all my one of a kind and art jewellery pieces.
The new shop, BellaBijouToo is going to have all my made to order, contemporary and everyday staple type pieces. I am slowly adding items in there, and will be retaking pictures this week for a new look.
My reasoning behind this is to keep the look and feel of the shop cohesive. Also, now that I am getting involved with stores and the possibilities of wholesale, it will be easier to direct potential orders. My one of a kind jewellery has too much labour in it for me to give away at 50% wholesale. Because the world of etsy is so competitive, I have tried to keep up with my pricing that way.
In addition, I am also going to be launching my own eccomerce website this week! ( Hey, I told you I was a busy girl!) I have been labouring away on it, adding every little feature I wish Etsy.com had. Like discount codes, bulk editing, product attributes,wholesale login etc.
Look for an announcement later this week unveiling it to the world ( and a special discount to go with it!)

I would love to hear any thoughts you may have on this. It is not the first time I have had my own website with online shopping, but in the past there were always things here or there that didn't work for me. This time I am creating it from absolute scratch in hopes of making it an easy for me, great for shoppers experience.

Shop Update Part One

It's a busy day folks! Not only do I have a great shop update for you, but I have some exciting news about a venture I have been slaving away on ( but your going to have to wait until the second blog post for that!!)
Let's just says this girl has been slaving away, and I sincerely hope to enjoy some fruits of my labour.

The shop has been slow, as it can be this time of year, and it has given me a lot of time to think. About new techniques I am teaching myself, business ideas, and promotion strategies. I could easily sit around and go "woe is me - I have no sales" - but I am not going to! Instead I am going to keep body and mind and heart of mine working, and planning, and creating, and scheming... Ok maybe not scheming ( well maybe a little!)

So without further adieu the first have of my shop update!

A slice of life you can't touch, or grasp in your hands, but is part of the web we weave in this world together....

Slice of Life necklace is fabricated around a gorgeous and plump freeform Turquoise stone boasting hues of green, turquoise and brown. I have set it in fine and sterling silver, with a solid sterling back and edging around the stone. It hangs from a hand fabricated chunky sterling toggle that I have hammered for texture, and  17 inches of sterling chain. 

The entire piece has been oxidized for depth. Pendant measures 1 3/4 inch long (45mm) . Entire drop with toggle clasp is approx 2 1/2 inches long ) 60mm) 

A piece to wear like you have always worn it, like it is an extension of you!

Ooey, gooey, sweet and sticky Butterscotch.
Honey in colour, rich in taste, a tickle on your taste buds! 
Perhaps a little drizzled on ice cream, or in the form of a candy? Oh, or baked into cookies in the form of butterscotch chips.... need I go on ?

Butterscotch ring is composed of sterling silver and a gorgeous tall agate stone. It holds shades of amber and honey and looks tasty enough to pop into your mouth! I have set it simply, with fine and sterling silver and given it a textured ruffled edge. It sits on a SIZE 7.5 3mm band which has "Butterscotch" stamped on the inside.
Oxidized for depth and measuring 1 inch tall ( 25mm)

This Earth is so very magnificent isn't it ?

I have fabricated and forged soft square links in descending sizes of sterling silver which attach to several strands of delicate sterling chain. Clasped with a handmade sterling toggle; the entire piece has been given a deep charcoal patina.

There is a secret little cove stashed along the coast of BC. Once the place for boats to pirate goods, it is aptly named Smugglers Cove. Pirates are long gone, but beneath the abandoned marina lurk some of natures most spectacular creatures... jellyfish. Some are tiny, no more than 2-3 inches wide, and others were giants, around 15 inches - all of them beautiful and graceful with each movement.

And as the tide pulls out, they hang out on the rocks on the beach, soaking up the sun, content. They patiently wait for it to pull back in, and bring them back to life, once again...

Warm summer nights remind me of the years when my biggest worry was what to do that night. Nights when we were young, and free of responsibilities. Free to fly by the seat of our pants and not be cemented down into anything.

Summer nights filled with beach parties, the smell of the ocean, and bare feet because I had kicked off my sandals much earlier that night. We would float, like a gypsy, night to night, no set plans, no set rules, living life each day and loving the nights that seemed to go on forever...

Case of the Forgetsies

Occasionally, I get a case of the Forgetsies {slightly cuter version of a brain fart don't you think?} and think I have done something I really haven't, or the other way around and do something I think I didn't.

Confused? me too.

I could have sworn up and down I listed these gorgeous Plume Earrings way back in my first June shop update - but alas, I did not! In my mind I can almost remember doing so, but perhaps it was all a dream!
