Afternoon Delight

We had a late night on Saturday night. We were out with an old friend who has been in Korea for the last 6 years. We had a blast - good times with good people, but were up many many hours past our usually modest bed time. Due to the late night happens, we were both somewhat useless today, and had a lazy sunday complete with greasy hangover deliciousness. Of course, those who know me know, I never really have a complete write off of a day - I always get up to something! Late in the after noon I had a hankering for a blueberry muffin ( blueberries are in season here and they are oh so tasty  and sweetly plump!)
**Of course - buying muffins is out of the question.**
Determined, I made up a recipe using what I had in the pantry.
Now, I know it will be tempting to lick your screen, alas I assure you it will not be nearly as tasty as one of these morsels.
Best of all ? They are sinfully healthy.
Believe it.

Delightful!!

You didn't think I would post scrumptious treats, bragging of their good for you nature without posting the recipe do you ?
Here you go lovelies!

Jaime's Sinfully Good For You Blueberry Muffins

Preheat oven to 375

In one bowl please mix :
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup fat free vanilla yogurt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 egg + 1 egg white
3/4 cup quick cook oats
1/4 skim milk

In another bowl please mix :
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup bran
2 tsp baking power
2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt

Fold 1 cup blueberries ( or cranberries or raspberries etc - just make sure its fresh, not dried) with the wet bowl, then incorporate the dry.  Mix just until there are no dry streaks in the bowl. This recipe makes 12 muffins - I didn't grease the pan, and they came out beautifully. I did however sprinkle a wee bit of white sugar on the top before they went in the oven.

I will note - these muffins are Dan approved, he is not a sweets fan, and said they were just sweet enough.
They are not a dessert muffin, rather a lifestyle muffin ( how do you like the sounds of that!?)

Much Needed Rn'R

Its been a long week. I spent most of my week ironing out all the mistakes in my team's schedule, even though it is not part of my position. I have done the scheduling in the past, but recently the manager has taken it on himself so he can keep a closer eye on us ( ie make sure we arent happy - why would you want happy employees after all ?) Since my manager can't seem to figure out how to read the availability sheets, he scheduled my whole team ass-backwards. Sigh.... I just love knowing more than the person who gets paid the money to know more....
I decided after the No Doubt concert last night ( which was awesome, but very very loud- I must be getting old) to drive up to my parents cabin Sunday morning. Its only about 2 hours away with one ferry ride in that time, and I can easily spend the night and come back in the afternoon. Its been so nice just to breathe the fresh air, be away from the city, and generally have time go slower. Dan stayed at home, he has to work today. It was kinda nice for me to go and just spend the night with my folks and Tuckie anyways - just like when my bro and I were kids!
I did take a couple of pics when I got here, and took Tuckie down to the beach for a swim. I will take tomorrow. As for the concert, my friend has the pics on her camera, so they may take a little bit!

Our house. My dad designed and built it himself!

Tucker with his head out the window on the way to the beach

He couldn't get wait to go for a dip!

Was very proud of himself after he fetched the stick I threw into the water...

But then needed to roll around in the dirt and rocks, cause that's what he does - silly dog!
He is not modest, as you can tell by the blatant belly facing up lol

Thats all for now folks, I do have some new items to post about later in the evening most likely. I will be hitting the bead shop on my way home from here - they have a fabulous selection of pearls and funky single stones. We shall see what I come up with!

My fave No Doubt song :

In other news, I realize I haven't posted much new in a while, but I promise you all I've been sketching away. Im hoping to spend the day tomorrow before the concert creating :-)

:-S

For two days I've worked on a beautiful setting. I sanded, oxidized and tumbled it lovingly. Then I attempted to set the (one of a kind) stone and BAM! Cracked.
Le sigh.
Back to the drawing board.....

One of the Sweeter Ways to Wake

Oh happy day, when I stumble down stairs on a Sunday morn to see that my Moondance Ring has made it to the front page of Etsy!

It's amazing how the little things in life can start your day in one way or another!
Today will be spent working at the bench (which I cleaned last night!!) I was lucky enough to be blessed with some orders over the last few days.  Since I do not get my usual Monday off work (my manager is having fun playing with my schedule - jerk)  - I am going to try my best and get them done and tumbling today.
Last night we had the boys over for the big UFC fight. I watched part of it, but really couldn't be bothered to get into it (too bloody for me) Instead I drooled over Carolyn of AutumnLeavesJewelry's newest ring holder - this woman has mad talent!
Anywho - Im off to the bench to wake Dan with some hammering and drilling! Much to do before we head to his parents for a yummy grilled salmon dinner :-)
ciao bellas!

Weary Fingers with Delicious Results

As promised, the second half to yesterdays post, the continuance of my new collections Rococo, Minima & Luxe. While I know its late, and most are dreaming, I promised myself I would get these pieces done, photographed, listed and blogged today. My body aches from leaning over the bench, my eyes weary from the computer, and my finger ? Well its still a little sore. HOWEVER, it was so worth it. The satisfaction in completing my goal is good for the soul!
Behold!

This is the time when I bid you farewell - its bed time, I've earned it tonight! Ciao Bellas!

Cleanliness and Collectiveness

Happy tuesday all! Today we both were lucky enough to have the day off ( that doesnt happen often!) so of course we decided to make a joint effort towards cleaning the house.
Boo.
Now don't get me wrong, I adore a clean house. Its just the motion of cleaning I don't enjoy. However, there truly is nothing more enjoyable than savoring the fruits of your labour and taking that first deep breathe in a spic and span home. I feel more relaxed.
(notice I didnt mention cleaning my bench - that will come later. Serious procrastination right now on that one.)
I have been a busy bee, and have finally started to gather together a vision I have been cultivating. I have been laboring over three new collections I have been wanting to introduce. yes three!)
They are as follows :

"Rococo"

Rococo is glamourous, detailed and lush with adornment. A line built for the girl who wants her jewellery to say something, to tell a story that can be passed down for generations.

"Minima"

Minima is a line for those who are looking for everyday grace. For the jewellery to be the glossy finish on their pictures in life. A classic feel with a modern touch.

"Luxe"

Luxe is for the ladies with a fire burning within. Those who want/need a little sparkle in their light, a glimmer of mystery.... a little je ne sais quoi!

Today I launched 2 of the three lines, Rococo and Minima, and Luxe will launch tomorrow. Collections or lines of jewellery isn't something I have done for ages, but I felt as I made these pieces that they belonged in "families" - once I set up the basis for my separate collections the visions and dreams were abundant!

So with out further adieu - some pictures for your viewing pleasure!

Until tomorrow - ta ta!

Sweet Smell of New Tools

I promised you all I would post pics of my new tools that I blogged about recently. I am still waiting for a few things like my lowercase stamps, but here's some of the things I have gotten a chance to use :

Quick change hand piece
 - LOVE this! The only thing I can't use in it is my really teeny tiny drill bits, but thats ok, cause it makes changing out my wheels and burs soooo much easier!

Oval bracelet mandrel
- Since I've been on a bit of a cuff kick lately, I finally broke down and bought this. I have a regular round one, with out the steps, but this is so awesome. It makes it so easy to size things, and the perfect oval shape for a wrist!

New hammers
-Like I needed more ? I got these for SUPER deals ( $5/each!) from a local shop. I bought them purely for texture and love them both! I think I have about 14 hammers now, and they all have their own use :-)

New Punches
- Dad gave these to me ( My most favorite tools come from Dad!) They make perfect little circles. I love the character that the tools I get from my Dad have. Some of them are older than I am, some have been passed down, some he made himself!

Oh - and if that weren't all enough eye candy - Here's a pick of the latest batch of Rutilated Quartz I received! ( I have a wheelbarrow full of stones coming any day now - will photograph and boast about those later :-)

Not the greatest pic - the sun was bright and kinda washed out all the lovely needles of gold and black in them - they truly are gorgeous in person!

Thats all she wrote for today, hope you all are having a lovely Thursday!

Oh Canada! My Home and Native Land....

Happy Canada Day! A big thank you to all my fellow Canadians ( and American friends!) who read this blog. Your support and kind words ( especially over the last few days) has been so very heart warming and has restored my faith in people!

For the first time in a long time, I made myself something. Its a maple leaf that I drew, then sawed out of copper. I gave it a nice patina which I sealed, and it has a little latch on the back so I can pin it to my shirt tomorrow to wear to work with pride!

Im pretty proud of it, I've really gotten into saw work lately ( I kinda dreaded it before) and even Dan thought it was pretty cool ;-p

To celebrate Canada Day I will be offering free worldwide shipping on all items $20 or more! Just for today! All items will ship Air Mail with insurance as usual :-)
